Campus Ministry

As a Catholic school, everything we do at Eastside Catholic is related to Campus Ministry. Everyone from faculty and staff to students and parents are considered Campus Ministers. The goal of the school Campus Ministry team is to facilitate healthy spirituality and strong faith within each member of the school community. Rooted in the values of the gospel of Jesus Christ and Catholic tradition, Campus Ministry promotes an experience of community where all members of the school can grow together in genuine love of God, self and others.

Prayer and Sacrament
Prayer is the way we cultivate a conscious relationship with God. Everything we do at Eastside Catholic begins with a prayer. Each school day begins with a prayer led by a student and many class periods begin with prayer. Assemblies and home games in athletics begin with prayer as well.

The Eucharist is celebrated in our chapel on a regular basis throughout the school year. (Check the weekly bulletin for times.). Our middle school and high school students have a scheduled weekly opportunity for liturgy in the school chapel. The entire school gathers for Mass periodically as well. All school liturgies are planned by students and faculty. Student retreats include a liturgy as well. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered on Fridays during Advent and Lent or any time upon request, as is the Sacrament of Anointing for the sick. All members of the Eastside Catholic community are welcome whenever we gather for prayer.

Retreats
Retreats help focus individual spiritual growth while also creating a deeper sense of connection and commitment to one's community. All retreats are led by student ministers.

The middle school students have periodic days throughout the school year where time is set aside for them to reflect on themes relevant to their spiritual formation.

Freshmen have two retreat experiences. The first is the Frosh Overnight held a week before school begins. A second day-long retreat is held in the spring to reflect on the progress they have made on their journey so far.

The Sophomore Retreat centers on the Challenge Day Program, where students are trained to become leaders in creating a climate of acceptance, respect and mutual support at school and in the greater community.

Juniors and seniors can make a three-day retreat known as Destiny. This is a more intense time of prayer, play, sharing and growth. God's powerful love for us and our vocation to share that with others are the focal points of the weekend.

Seniors begin their final year of high school with a Senior Pilgrimage, a 15-mile hike interspersed with prayer, activities, talks and small group faith sharing.

Pastoral Care
Pastoral care and spiritual direction are available for all students and their parents through the school chaplain, Fr. William Heric, or other members of the Campus Ministry team.
