Welcome from the Chaplain
At Eastside Catholic, we like to say that everyone is a campus minister. Students, faculty and staff alike are called to minister Christ’s love and care of all members of our school community. Rooted in the Roman Catholic Tradition, the Campus Ministry Department at EC provides resources and opportunities for all members of the school to grow spiritually as individuals and as members of a faith community with a mission to serve the world in love.
The center of our school life is prayer and the celebration of the sacraments, most especially the Eucharist. Our students have yearly opportunities for retreat experiences that help them reflect together on their journey of growth and development as children of God. Community Service, one of our touchstones, is integrated into our students overall curriculum through service learning opportunities throughout the school year. Educating for justice is a special focus of our community service program. |

| As the school chaplain, I am a pastoral care resource for all members of the school community. I do that in collaboration with other faculty, staff and students. The call to compassion, care and concern to others is at the heart of our culture here at Eastside Catholic, as echoed by the words of our school patron, St. Francis of Assisi: Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Catholic faith and traditions are central to the school experience at EC, but celebrated in a way that welcomes and affirms other Christian denominations, and religious traditions. Whenever we gather to pray, reflect or serve at Eastside Catholic, we do so as one school community, united as beloved children of God.
St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us!

The Eastside Catholic Chapel is named after St. Francis of Assisi, who is our school patron. His famous prayer below is one that all of our students are required to memorize:
Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
